Things I learnt along the way

Communication is the most important skill for a UX/product designer. Convincing stakeholders why a project matters, or explaining the reasoning behind a design decision, is just as important — if not more — than the design solution itself.

It's a cliché, but a genuinely valuable lesson: working with others from the start is far more effective than working alone.

Ask "why" before starting every project, even the small ones. Sometimes the answer isn't a UX solution at all.

It's worth designing not just for now, but with an eye on future problems — not just the ones in front of you.

Working as the solo UX designer in a large company sometimes means the best thing you can do is provide the expertise: lay out your recommendations clearly, explain the "why," and let the relevant teams take it from there.

In real life, a "workable" solution is sometimes enough. Waiting for perfect isn't always realistic — a hard pill to swallow for perfectionists, but a workable solution still beats no solution at all

Design the system, not just the solution — you won't always know upfront how far it'll reach

A good designer maintains accessibility. A great designer advocates for it.

Utilizing AI is a good thing, making it do your job is a really bad thing!
